The best bath ever!

I think its truly amazing just how different my babies have proven to be from each other thus far.

ONE of the most notable differences in these two is bath time! Savanna loved the water from day one, Adam, not so much.
bath time is something that I DREAD.  At the beginning I figured oh he will get used to it and like it like a 'normal' baby. Well attempting night after night , baby bath, sink, shower, bathing with me....nothing was getting better its gotten to the point where Ill be honest I bath him as little as I can possibly get away with because he literally screams at the top of his little lungs the ENTIRE time, he is much more content to be wiped down with a cold baby wipe than to enjoy a nice warm, relaxing bath. Its miserable to say the least. He does however sleep well after because hes so exhausted from screaming.

Tonight, after a loooong afternoon of him fighting his nap I fed him a good amount of avocado and banana and decided that I really wanted to take a bath and since he was still awake he was coming with me.

Something just told me tonight was the night....And it wasn't the avocado in his neck rolls! :)

He did this most of the time, laying on his back on my legs eating his feet. I'm sure they tasted much better since they were freshly washed!

He even let me give him a "bubble hawk"
Loved playing in the water, splashing with his feet, grabbing the bubbles and trying to eat them. He was so relaxed and happy. He even let me float him on his back just holding onto my fingertips.

He really has a thing for his feet right now!
we must have played for a solid 45 min, and he even let me dunk the back of his head to rinse the soap off his hair. Then he nursed, that was probably the most relaxing thing, he started to doze off so we got out!
he was making faces in the mirror
he is such a little ham!
after lotion and jammies he was out within five minutes!!

This bath made up for the loooong afternoon and the hour of crying and nap fighting.

Monkey Bread

Monkey bread is my Christmas morning tradition. I prepare it the night before, stick it in the fridge and as soon as I get up in the morning I stick it in the oven. Then after the kids get up and we explore what Santa brought we enjoy this before moving on to stockings and gifts!

My friend Cassie makes this on Christmas morning too. Only hers is different. And I've even seen another blog or two that have ways that are different than hers! Who could have imagined that there were so many ways to make such a simple dish!

I love it cause its easy, cheap and delicious!!
First take 4 cans of "pop" biscuits and open them all up

Next, cut them all into fours, like this....
Prepair and bowl of cinnamon and sugar
Coat the biscuit pieces in the the mixture
Once they are all coated put them into a bundt pan. I spray mine with pam.
I leave mine in the refrigerator over night on Christmas eve, just so its one last thing I have to do in the morning. So in the morning I take it out and give it a "fluff" so that the pieces are loose again, after being in the cold refrigerator they stick together.
Once its been fluffed, I melt 1 stick of butter and drizzle it over the top, make sure to even distribute the butter so that you get a consistent texture threw out.

Pop it in a 350 degree oven for about 20 min.

Then turn over on a platter and it should pop right out!

And Because mine started being attacked before I could get a picture of it, I will show you Cassies, and assure you that Mine looked the same :)

I like to make a sweetened cream cheese spread to put over the top of it. If you put it on top just after you place it on your tray it will melt down all over it and you will need 10 napkins.
This also makes a great Sunday morning treat or if you have guests over!

Recipie:
Bread
4 cans pop biscuits
1/2 Cup melted butter
1/2 Cup sugar and cinnamon mixture

Frosting

1 8oz package low fat cream cheese
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1tbsp Vanilla

Daddy's Little Girl - "We sabing mama!"

I think it might be an understatement lately to say that she is daddy's little girl. She has had him wrapped around her finger since birth of course, but since Adam's arrival she has definitely made it clear that Steven is her "parent of choice" when it comes to bath, bed, feeding, dressing, changing, and even pooping! If Steven is home, then its "NO, MAMA! Daddy do!!"

So one evening when Steven was shaving and Savanna was attached to his hip watching him she appearently wanted to try it out too!
I happened to be snapping shots of Mr.Man in the next room and when I went to check out what all the giggling was this is what I saw

At first I freaked out that he was really shaving her face....
but he really wasnt, And she was none the wiser!
Look at him look at her....

She was so proud cause she was "sabing wiff daddy, Mama! We sabing!"

2010 Family Photos!

I have been *dying* to share these with the world, but they were a surprise this year! I know, I know, "ohhh family photos- no surprise". But this year was different! It WAS!

My in laws are IMPOSSIBLE to buy for. I know them well, I know what they like so that isn't the problem. The problem is they don't NEED anything. I'm sure this is something that most people face when shopping for there parents and in laws.

So late one night while I just happened to be up nursing it struck me! Something that Im SURE that they would LOVE, and I KNOW they don't have! Well at least not a current one. A Family photo with all of there children together.

Until the next morning I realized that it was going to take a little more to pull off than I had thought. My husbands step brother lives in southern CA. And I had NO idea when he would be coming home to visit. So I approached one of my sister in laws with the Idea, we started plotting! :) We WOULD pull this off.We did, it definitely took all of us to do this!

I secured an AMAZING Photographer. We figured out the date, and we had our fingers crossed for no rain.
OH and we were also hoping that no one would BLOW the surprise! NONE of us are good at keeping secrets from Mary! There was lots of plotting and planning between all of us.

Well, We did it! And luckily there was no rain THAT day. The day before it poured non-stop.

Here it is!!

It turned out wonderful, everyone looked great!

Now we all just had to keep it a secret for a another whole month! CRAP! Im sure every.single.one of us at some point almost blew it.

But it was so worth it! As you can see below from Mary's reaction.

We made her cry! We were all very proud!

Below are some of the rest of my favorites of the day!

James Wesley-Real

My Husband played this song for me last night when he got home from work and I just felt I needed to share it today with everyone. It is just an amazingly "real" song. I Love music that speaks to you. My husband has incredible taste in music. His favorites are based on Lyrics and not genre.
One of my favorite things about my husband is his incredible "library" of music lyrics in his head! If you are ever unsure of lyrics, just ask him he knows. Don't ever challenge him either, cause you will lose no matter how sure you are :)

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

My UN-resolutions! :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Do you make resolutions?

I personally don't make them anymore because frankly they just don't work for me. I think the main reason that they don't work is because most of them are unrealistic and ultimately are not things that you can just say " I'm (not) going to do this..." and it be that simple. And if they were you would have already done it.

As much as I would like to resolve to do all the things my heart desires, I know that I need to approach it in a much different manor.

I need GOALS not DEMANDS.

So this year I'm setting goals for myself. Self change is a process, and in that process comes challenges and ups and downs. I am prepared to face these things head on and at full speed.

Some of the things currently on my list

No.1- Get back to the gym.
This is something that most people make into a resolution, they hit it hard for a few weeks or even maybe a month and then they miss a few days, that turn into weeks and well I'm sure you all know where this ends....
My plan for this is simple, I'm going to start small and work up so that I can feel progress and not get burnt out. My husband also has this at the top of his goals list, and I know that he will give me as much support as I want. Within this goal, our eating habits are going to change drastically to improve our health, budget and family time! I love to cook, and I love when my husband and I are on the same page on this stuff!
My main goal is not a number, All though I can think of several that Id LOVE to be seeing on the scale after giving birth to 2 kids! But really Id really just like to focus on my health, and how I feel and look, and not so much on numbers and sizes.

No.2 - Start contributing to our finances.
Not that I havnt been doing this at all, its just not as much as Id like. I know that Im a stay at home mom, but I feel that I have many skills that will allow me to start bringing in a little extra this year. I have several things in the works and am very excited to get to work on this!

No.3 - Being a better house keeper.
I will be the first to tell you that I HATE cleaning. I really do. But I love having a CLEAN house. I will also say that since Adam has been born things have been more of a challenge to keep up on. My laundry pile looks like it could have its own zip code right now. As much as I dislike cleaning I LOVE organizing. in the last 6 months things have become increasingly disorganized and I intend on spending LOTS of time in the next few months getting things back into the organization that I love. My house is by no means disgusting, but it would definitely not pass any white glove inspections!
My closet is a DISASTER to say the least, and my kitchen cabinets could really use a going threw.

No.4 Getting out more.
I think in the last few months or so Ive become too much of a homebody. I have a great group of girlfriends who are all stay at home moms and I normally get together with several of them a month if not more but in the last few months ( really since having Adam) Ive had no real desire to deal with the hassle that comes with trying to get the 3 of us up, and out of the house more than we NEED to. And Ive enjoyed being a lazy bum, wearing sweats and yoga pants for months, Ive also become lonely. I feel disconnected and I don't like it.

No.5 Finding a "Balance"
(2,4,&5 really go together I think)

Being a stay at home mom is probably the single greatest thing Ive been fortunate to do in my life. And I am so grateful that I have this opportunity. But I will tell you that it is equally challenging. I "work" from the time I'm up till the time I go to bed. I rarely get "me" time and having a 5 month old that is exclusively breastfed makes the "me" time That i do get either a gym session or some quiet time making jewelry.
Now I wouldn't trade any of that for anything, but I do know that as important as my "job" is as a mom, its equally important that I take care of Me.

No.6 - Getting more sleep!
This one is rather comical since I have a baby, and he well...he has yet to establish a good sleep habit. So were working heavily on that. I also stay up too late when everyone else is sleeping so I can get in some of that "me" time!

No.7- Learning more about my camera.
When my daughter was born Steven and I invested in a really nice camera. I have taken some great shots and received more compliments that I could have ever imagined but I know there is a lot more I can do with my camera! I plan to take a class or two geared toward the kind of photographs I take.

No.8 Budget Better.
With only having one source of income, budgeting has become to mean a lot more. I intend to develop a budget that works for us. Along with making that budget work, I intend to find as many areas as possible to SAVE money. this includes simple things like cutting back on energy bills and water bills to clipping coupons shopping at cheaper places and utilizing the rewards programs I have . Being more creative with gift giving and decorating as well as finding more FREE things to do as a family.

No.9 Making more time for "family Time"
We are so blessed to live where we do. There are so many different amazing outdoor places ( and indoor too) that are within driving distance from us. I fully intend to start exploring our "own back yard" as they say, a lot more.

No.10 Grow my hair past my shoulders
This one is likely to take me the entire year if not longer. My hair grows so slow.

No. 11 Learn to knit.
I have always wanted to learn how to crochet or knit. I have tried crocheting and I just cant get it. So I'm hoping thatI can get the hang of knitting!

So, What are your goals for 2011?
